word
You know how people say that one image says thousand words? That is very true. But at the same time, one word can bring a thousand images to your mind. But not just any word. It must be a word well chosen. These are the kind of words that fascinate me.
I love words. I love languages. I love the concept of a language. Communication. I love reading books and articles, I also love writing. I have absolutely no idea whether or not I can write. But it doesn't really matter. I love it. Putting words down onto a piece of paper (or into a file) brings me joy. Choosing words, one after another, putting them together, creating sentences, paragraphs, stories. Everything starts with a single word. And every single word counts. And they all must be the words well chosen. Because the things you create with words well chosen acquire their own power to create, to create images in the mind of those, who read them. Words well chosen have the power to paint with the brightest colours. Otherwise, they are just black stains on white background.
I love words and this love makes me a true geek. I am fascinated with the ways the language we use to communicate shapes our thinking, our culture, our views, our world. I keep on learning more and more languages, to be able to understand more and more people. Because after all, people are the most interesting.
I enjoy books, I read a lot, but all of them were once written by a human. Whether they are fictional stories or memoirs, they are nothing but a bunch of words put together by someone. But those words, somehow, open another worlds in front of you.
I am eager to meet new people. To hear their stories. Where they’ve been, what they dream about and what they fear, what hurts them the most and what makes them happy. What fascinates them.
I hate small talk though. Small talk is just noise, a bunch of words that don’t mean anything. I skip smalltalk as often as I can. So I don’t ask where people are from, but what is their favourite place on Earth. I won’t ask you what your major is, but rather what made you study it. I’d rather know your story than your name. So tell me your stories, all of them. I will be here, taking them all in.
